Mesa Rectifier V30 Impulse Response Download The ReaperNoise Gate ReaGate - Your DAW should come with a gate but if it doesnt you can download the Reaper plugins that comes with a decent one.
The use of the gate is to cut out the buzz noise you hear even when not playing. Mostly useful for just keeping things quiet between takes but if you are playing Djent then you may crank it up to cut short certain notes and have cleaner pauses. Set the gate to kick in at a level where you arent playing but the there is still a noise. Drive Pedal TSE808 - This boosts the drive of the guitars and gives the signal a bit more oomph going into the amp sim. Leave all the settings on default but if you want to have a play around then the Tone knob is all you really want to mess with, too much drive will just make things a little to distorted for their own good. Make sure the quality button at the bottom is on high, you can have it on low for recording if you are on a low end machine but it must be set to high for mixing and rendering. Amp Sim NC8505 - NC7170 - TSE x30 - Dirthead - Emissary - Lepou Amp Sims - As you can see there are a bunch to choose from I recommend downloading them all as they are all good and have their uses. Some are more fuzzy than others, some are darker than others, some are more tubey than others, ect, ect. Once you have completed the other steps of the guide you can come back to this stage and fiddle with the dials to get the exact tone you like. Always make sure the quality buttons are set to high, at least for mixingrendering. In my experience you are eventually to be rolling off the gain to about 25 in most cases, when you are double or even quad tracking guitars too much gain makes the whole thing sound a mess with no dynamics. So dont be afraid to pull back that gain and see your tone start to cut through even more. My personal favourite sim at the moment is the Nick Crow 8505, it sounds like a Peavey 6505 and has a nice fuzzy tone that you can EQ into a smooth but fat distortion, great for modern metal styles like Deathcore, Metalcore or Black Metal. In the case of Lo Fi Black Metal you arent going to want a smooth tone so you can likely ignore the final EQ stage and can crank up the distortion to max. Impulse Response Loader Cab Sim NADIR - Now we have our amp sim we need a cab sim to replicate the cab to go with the amp. This is where your tone really starts to get affected and depending on what Impulse Response you load the sound can vary massively even with the same amp sim. Some responses imitate different microphone positions to the speaker and some will try to replicate certain bands or album tones. Dont worry too much about that, just listen to them and see if you like them, that is what is important. Once you have downloaded the IR Loader you need some Impulse Responses to go with it. Mesa Rectifier V30 Impulse Response Free And PaidThere are TONS out there, for free and paid but I am going to link you to a few that I consider the best free ones out there, so you dont have to waste your time looking for them. Catharsis - Link can be found on this page - In my opinion the best Catharsis IR is the 2off-presshigh. Load it into NADIR. ![]()
